Dave Gettleman continued his excellent 2021 NFL Draft with the selection of Aaron Robinson with the 71st pick. At 5’11 1/2″ and 186-pounds, Robinson has good size for a slot and has good burst and athleticism, but may lack the top end speed to move to the boundary.
A two-year starter at UCF Robinson recorded 91 tackles while taking 3 interceptions and making 15 pass breakups. While not exactly a ball hawk, he only allowed 6 TD’s during his college career. He has a tendency to lose patience on some routes and will need time to develop but looks to be a solid nickel corner in years to come.
AARON ROBINSON PROJECTS AS A STARTING SLOT CORNER
Draft Network had this to say about Aaron Robinson, “While he has some experience playing out wide, his best fit at the next level is likely in the slot. Robinson is a versatile defender that can function in both man and zone coverage and he will make the run defense better with his ability to fill and defend the D-gap. Overall, he’s a physical player with quick feet and sufficient athleticism.“
